Cystic Hygroma of the Parotid gland

Abstract

|
Cystic hygroma of the parotid gland is very rare and to date only fourteen cases were reported in literature.
This is a case report of the cystic hygroma of the parotid gland in 15 year old boy.
A palpable soft mass of the chest nut size in the region of left parotid gland was noted and this mass showed no particular change in character for a year. Following mild contusion in the region, the mass became painful and enlarged to hen´s egg size. The mass located in the superficial lobe of the gland was excised without any facial nerve injury and histological study of the specimen showed a typical cystic hygroma of the parotid gland with hemorrhage.
